ELSA Georgia is delighted to welcome you to ELSA Webinars Academy on International Migration and Refugee Law!
 
As a result of armed conflicts, political crisis, and the threat of persecution, there are millions of forcibly displaced people worldwide. Main strategic directions in the area and solutions for migrants, refugees, internally displaced and stateless people will be therefore topics discussed during the academic programme of our ELSA Webinars Academy. Additionally, during the academic programme, you will have a chance to acknowledge the challenges and opportunities that characterise forced displacement and migration in today’s complex global environment.
 
We are pleased to host ELSA Webinars Academy’s academic program in cooperation with the Academician Levan Alexidze Foundation (www.laf.ge), established on the initiative of Professor Ketevan Khutsishvili in 2019, in order to advance Academician Levan Alexidze's professional legacy and promote Georgia's International Law school established by him.

Participants of our ELSA Webinars Academy will have an opportunity to gain basic knowledge in the field of international migration and refugee law from international, comparative, and interdisciplinary perspectives. This ELSA Webinars Academy will provide the participants with an overview on the law applicable to border management, and immigration, as well as fundamental human rights.

Within theoretical part students will have the unique opportunity to work on a resolution in the field of international migration and refugee law, which you will present on 26th of May, on the Independence day of Georgia.
 
The Academic Programme will focus on the following topics:
Migration and state sovereignty;
Migration and human rights;
Migration-gender nexus;
The International Legal Framework of Refugee Protection;
Procedures for Determining Refugee Status;
Deportation and extradition, non-refoulement;
Migration Management: Civil Society Perspective;
ICMPD in Georgia and Visa Liberalisation;

Participation in the course is covered by the participation fee, which includes a certificate of participation, issued upon completion of the whole course. Participation fees are :
30 € for ELSA Members and
35€ for Non ELSA Members
